Canon PowerShot G11 – hand-held camera with DSLR quality

Canon presented new camera – Canon PowerShot G11. Its functions are similar to functions of DLSR camera. This device is the direct successor to G10 model. External style of the two cameras is similar.

The main difference is LCD display. G11 includes tilt/swivel display, G10 has fixed panel. Now the size of the LCD display is 2,8 inches only, earlier it was 3 inches. But most significant parameters can be found in the body of camera.

Canon PowerShot G11has 1/1.7-inch CCD image sensor size, The sensor resolution is 10.0 effective megapixels. The lower end of the ISO range is ISO 80, the upper is 3,200. A special mode allows to make images in the regime of ISO 12,800 at a reduced resolution.

The Canon PowerShot G11 has 5x optical zoom lens. Maximum aperture varies from f/2.8 to f/4.5. This camera includes true optical image stabilization.

The Canon G11 has DIGIC 4 processor, so it works fast and allows using an autofocus system. Shutter speed varies from 1/4,000 to 15 seconds. HDMI output allows connecting the camera to TV for viewing photos and movies with family and friends.

Like its predecessor PowerShot G10, the PowerShot G11 has numerous automatic and manual functions. Interesting options include I-Contrast. You can apply it for lightening dark areas. It can be used as a post-processing option in Playback mode.

The G11 also offers iSAPS. It is a mode for intelligent scene recognition. It optimizes parameters of focus speed, white balance and exposure in fast shooting.
